Hey everyone! I know I’m a few days late on this blog post but things have been a little hectic in here as far as editing photos from this last weekend. I also can’t believe I haven’t written an entry since the end of January – what was I thinking?!

The Walk for Animals 2012 was on Saturday and Pet Heaven was there along with a slew of other vendors. Our team, One Leg Up, ended up raising $550 for the Humane Society of Greater Miami and we are very thankful to everyone who contributed.

Candy and Sergio started off the day pretty early while I got there right as the event was starting. At first I was a little worried because it didn’t look like it was going to be as packed as it had been the years before, but they ended up having a great turnout.

I had the opportunity to meet Mark Buehrle and Gaby Sanchez from the Miami Marlins…I also met Buehrle’s wife, Jamie. I weaseled my way in between the Marlines photographer and videographer and got some great shots of Buehrle and Sanchez cutting the ribbon before the walk. After that, I ran to the front of Bayfront Park to get some great shots of the pets and their human companions. I honestly had no idea how much personality a dog could have in their walk until I shot from their point of view.

After that I went back to the Pet Heaven tent and helped Candy and Sergio meet and greet everyone that was walking around the park. Luckily we had a large container full of treats to keep the dogs entertained while their companions mingled.

Overall it was a great experience as always, and we can’t wait to see everyone next year. In the mean time Pet Heaven will be participating in Woofstock (Islamorada Florida on March 10) and the South Florida Pet Expo in West Palm Beach on March 24. See you there!
